To create an FTP account, perform the following steps:
- Log into your cpanel
Notes:
- Usually through the domain port 2082, www.mywebsite.com:2082
- Scroll down the icons list in the main panel until you reach files
- Select FTP Accounts, then move to step 4
- Enter the desired username in the Login text box.
- Enter and confirm the new password in the appropriate text boxes.
Notes:
- The system grades the password that you enter on a scale of 100 points.
0
indicates a weak password, while100
indicates a very secure password. - Some web hosts require a minimum password strength. A green password Strength meter indicates that the password is equal to or greater than the required password strength.
- Click Password Generator to generate a strong password.
- The system grades the password that you enter on a scale of 100 points.

Enter the FTP account's home directory. We recommend you type public_html without a trailing slash after it.
Notes:
- The Directory text box defines the new FTP account's top level of directory access. For example, if you enter
example
in the Directorytext box, the FTP account can access the/home/$user/example/
directory and all of its subdirectories. - The system automatically populates this text box with
public_html/account
, whereaccount
is the username that you entered in the Login text box.

Enter the disk space quota, or select Unlimited.

Click Create FTP Account. The new account will appear in the FTP Accounts table, situated below the Add FTP Account area at the top of the page.

Once you have created (added) an account, you can use the Configure FTP Client button to either remind yourself of connection settings or to share with ourselves in order to aid you.
